Which EmberQuest class should you pick?

Warrior, Archer, Assassin or Ranger? A side-by-side comparison of EmberQuest's four classes using the base stat profiles from the live build.

10/11/2026 v1.2 4 min read

EmberQuest has four classes — Warrior, Archer, Assassin, Ranger — and class choice is the one decision the game asks you to make up front. The good news: the differences are strong and readable. Here is what separates them, using the base stat profiles shown in the official wiki’s live class pages (checked October 11, 2026; values shift with balance patches, especially around the Steam launch).

What is each class in one sentence?

  • Warrior — frontline tank specializing in armor and crowd control.
  • Archer — pure ranged DPS with speed and regen perks.
  • Assassin — burst damage expert with poisons and mobility.
  • Ranger — balanced skirmisher with sustain and ranged utility.

How do the base stats compare?

Class HP Armor Crit chance Crit damage Backstab Dash (speed ×)
Warrior 14.1 0.8 7.0% 54.1% 4.1% 1.65×
Ranger 13.1 0.5 6.0% 50.0% 8.2% 1.65×
Archer 11.0 0.1 6.0% 52.0% 4.1% 1.86×
Assassin 10.5 0.1 13.2% 62.2% 32.7% 2.24×

Numbers are the official wiki’s default display (before gear and consumables) on October 11, 2026. Even accounting for future tuning, the ordering is the point: Warrior is the only real tank, Archer and Assassin are glass, and the Assassin pays for the highest crit stats and mobility with the smallest health pool.

What is special about each class?

Warrior is the only class with a meaningful armor rating, which matters in world PvP and against boss hits that you cannot dodge on a schedule. Its crowd control focus also makes it the natural anchor in group content. If you plan to tank for friends or simply want the class that forgives mistakes, this is it.

Archer gets the second-fastest dash (1.86×) and regen perks, trading durability for the ability to keep fights at range while self-sustaining. It is the classic “I want to hit and never be hit” pick — just respect the 11 HP base.

Assassin is defined by one signature perk: only Assassins can go stealth, and only through consumable boosts — other classes are locked out entirely. Combined with 13.2% base crit, 62.2% crit damage, and a 32.7% backstab bonus, it is the pick for players who want to choose their fights and end them fast.

Ranger is the balance point: near-Warrior HP, a small armor value, the best dash economy (1.65× speed at 1× stamina), and 4.1% combat speed. It is the safest “I want to do a bit of everything” pick, including solo PvP.

Does your class restrict skills or weapons?

Not as far as any published source shows. All 10 skills (see the skills overview) are trainable by every class, and weapons are gated by item requirements rather than class tags. The class layer governs your combat baseline — HP, armor, crit, dash profile, and the Assassin’s stealth exclusivity — while everything else is open to you.

What if you want to change class later?

There is no announced class-change or respec system as of October 2026. Because skill progress is the part that takes hundreds of hours and is shared across classes, many players eventually level a second character for a different combat flavor — but treat the initial choice as semi-permanent for now.

Still deciding?

Read the individual pages — Warrior, Archer, Assassin, Ranger — or start with the beginner guide if you would rather learn the rest of the game first and commit later.
