EmberQuest Assassin guide: burst, poisons, stealth

EmberQuest's Assassin class: the game's only stealth access, highest crit stats, poison gameplay and backstab math — plus when not to pick it.

10/11/2026 v1.2 3 min read

The Assassin is EmberQuest’s burst-damage class and the answer to a question that comes up constantly: who can stealth? Officially: only Assassins, and only through consumable boosts — every other class is locked out entirely. That exclusivity, plus the game’s highest crit stats and a massive backstab bonus, defines the class.

What are the Assassin’s base stats?

From the official wiki’s live display (checked October 11, 2026, before gear — expect tuning at the Steam launch):

Stat Value
HP 10.5
Armor 0.1
Resist 2.0%
Heal bonus 4.1%
Pierce 0%
Crit chance 13.2%
Crit damage 62.2%
Backstab 32.7%
Dash profile 2.24× speed, 4.57× stamina

Read the extremes: the lowest HP, the lowest resist, half the healing bonus of other classes — and the game’s highest crit chance (13.2%), highest crit damage (62.2%), an enormous 32.7% backstab bonus, and the fastest dash (2.24×) at the steepest stamina cost (4.57×). The Assassin is the class that either kills or dies, and the game built it that way on purpose.

How does stealth actually work?

Stealth is a consumable boost — you get access to it because you are an Assassin, but it is something you activate with a consumable rather than a toggled ability, which means stealth has a resource economy: every sneaky approach costs you an item. In PvP that economy defines the Assassin’s threat model — being stealthed is a limited resource, not a permanent state, so good players bait it out.

What is the backstab bonus worth?

The 32.7% backstab bonus is 4–8× what any other class gets (Warrior 4.1%, Archer 4.1%, Ranger 8.2%). Combined with the crit profile, an opening hit from behind is by far the highest-damage single action any class can land in EmberQuest. If you enjoy position-based combat — using the terrain, timing approached, and choosing your moment — this is the most technical class in the game.

When should you pick Assassin?

  • You want the game’s highest skill ceiling and its most distinctive perk (stealth).
  • You plan to play PvP (world zones, arenas) where positioning beats stats.
  • You like consumable-driven gameplay — poisons and boosts are part of your rotation, not an afterthought.
  • You can live with 10.5 HP. Seriously: you will die during the learning process, and that is the class working as intended.

When should you not pick Assassin?

If you want to solo the cozy parts of the game in comfort, or if dying repeatedly during boss learning sounds miserable: the Ranger gives up a bit of speed for 13.1 HP and real armor, and the Warrior straight-up forgives you. The Assassin does not forgive.

What should an Assassin train first?

Combat: Melee for the close-range damage that pairs with backstabs and poisons — ranged casts make stealth approaches pointless. Money skills: Fishing and Cooking, because potions and consumables are your native language and the food chain feeds the same market (see crafting overview). Full skill breakdown: skills overview.

How does it compare?

Against the Archer: double crit and stealth versus range and sustain. Against the Ranger: pure burst versus balanced durability. The side-by-side table: which class to pick.
